Currently, Google uses BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) to understand the intent behind search queries. It is important to note that social media platforms mark all links as UGC (user-generated content), therefore the links will not pass along PageRank. However, social signals are still important for SEO. Google has stated that they do not use social signals as a direct ranking factor. However, high social traffic can boost your rankings indirectly by boosting user engagement, backlinks, and more.
6. Use external links sparingly. When adding links to your blog posts, it’s important not to go overboard. If you include too many links, especially if they’re not relevant to the post, Google may view your content as spam.
When adding external links to your blog posts, be sure to only include a few and make sure they’re relevant to the post. You can also use a plugin like Nofollow for external links to make sure that any external links you do include are not passing along PageRank.
The last thing you want to do is make Google suspect you’re trying to engage in link schemes by adding irrelevant or excessive external links. Link schemes are expressly forbidden by Google and can result in your site being penalized or delisted entirely.
If someone ever tells you they can get you tons of high-quality backlinks in a short period of time, be very wary. It’s likely they’re trying to engage in a link scheme.
